Students with Diabetes gains national support from Novo Nordisk and LifeScan

Students With Diabetes is growing and receiving national recognition. We are thrilled to announce that we have received substantial support from Novo Nordisk, a health care company and world leader in diabetes care, and LifeScan, a Johnson & Johnson company, to continue to grow the infrastructure, expand the outreach and execute the programs of Students with Diabetes.

Students with Diabetes is a program of Bringing Science Home and helps connects young adults living with Type 1 diabetes. Bringing Science Home is an effort created in partnership between USF Health and The Patterson Foundation to help people with chronic conditions live more optimistically.

The 2013 Students With Diabetes National Conference will be presented by our title sponsor Novo Nordisk! In addition, Novo Nordisk is helping Students with Diabetes support a few interns for summer 2013 as the interns add their talents to leading non-profit diabetes companies.

The investment of these two large diabetes leaders will help Students with Diabetes (SWD) expand and create new programs, including a SWD app to be released in early 2013!

This means SWD will be able to increase reach. More young adults with Type 1 diabetes will learn about SWD opportunities. More young adults with Type 1 diabetes will also have the opportunity to contribute to research and will design programs relevant to this specific population.

We firmly believe that the best programs or interventions are designed by the people who will use the programs.  We will continue to operate with that philosophy and will now be able to design options that allow us to involve even more people in an advisory function for this organization.

Thank you Novo Nordisk and LifeScan!
